What would YOU do before you die??

We all just started watching this MTV show (yuck gross I know) called The Buried Life about 4 very cute Canadian guys on a mission to cross off things on their list of things to do before they die and helping others achieve something they want to do before they die. It's really quite sweet of them.
We each have a fave I like Ben, Julz likes Duncan, Meshe (my sister) liked Johnnie but has recently changed it to Dave (who Shannon likes) they can fight that one out.
any who it got me thinking of the things I want to do so i just started making a list in a notebook I had lying around (one of those cheap black ones with the red corners and red binding). I thought why not . . . make a craft out of it. The notebook was pretty boring so i made it . . . not boring. . . ? So far I have 46 things on my list.

This other book I got from the dollar store to use as a sketch book/ideas book was also pretty plain and I fixed it up a bit. There should be something written in the little rectangle I just dunno what yet.
i feel like i haven't blogged in sooo long.
January is almost over it seemed like a really long month for some reason. We'll see what february holds. . . oh shit . . . valentines day GREAT! (note that was sarcasm) can you tell i'm single . . .

21 Before 21

On my birthday, I made a mini book with 21 things I wanted to do before I turned 21.
So far, I've done not too bad: of the 21 things, I've entirely completed seven, partially completed four and realized that there's no way I will be able to complete two. With the exception of those two items, I think I'll be able to finish everything else successfully. Yay!

Just FYI, the book is made primarily from the contents of my recycling bin: if I recall correctly, that includes: a tampon box, a Strongbow box, and a macaroni and cheese box. (Isn't a person's recycling box so revealing?) All the cardboard is cut (uneven on purpose) and covered by pages from magazines, graph paper and scrapbooking paper. Bound with presentation rings from Staples, and VOILA. Mini goal book.

Felt Like I Was Throwing a Dinner Party

So yesterday, well actually today, is one of my best friend's birthday. A few friends came over, before we decided to go out, I made dinner. My mom's famous vegetarian Shepherd's Pie (which is my friend's favorite) and a Zucchini Carrot Loaf. I think both were VERY successful besides the loaf being a little bit dry.
I used a recipe from my new cookbook well the one I made.

Ingredients.

Five minutes more like five seconds into starting. I started with peeling the carrot and instead of peeling the actually vegetable I peeled off part of my finger nail hurt like hell (don't worry no one ate it)

Mixing, mixing, mixing.

The finished product. My sister who said she didn't like carrot cake and was not looking forward to eating this actually LIKED it. Julz on the other hand . . . don't think she liked it cause my sister finished off her portion. I liked it maybe I'm a little bias.

Two Lame Posts in a Row = One Mediocre Post

My last post was just a littletinybit lame so I figured I would post another one soon after. It will also be just a titch lame, but two lame posts equal one legitimate post, right? Right?

I've been scrapbooking since I was about twelve, so, as you can imagine, i have accumulated a considerable amount of scrapbooking stuff. So much that half of a closet shelf, two bookcase shelves and a tupperware box were devoted to housing paper, pens, stickers, photos, scissors, glue, etc. etc. etc.

Now it's all in one place, organized and lovely.

There are boxes for glue, for paper scraps, for pens, my scissor wheel and an Altoid tin of stamps.

Boring, I know. But kind of craft oriented.

Stuck.

Bah humbug.

I am stuck when it comes to crafting. I have absolutely no drive or inspiration to make ANYTHING whilst Jen over there is legitimately crafting up a storm. Blagh.
I have a couple of ideas that I'm not totally stoked on but might make anyway, just to get the creative juices flowing again.

So, this week, I'm going to cheat.

The following is a box that my dear friend Esther made for me Christmas. The box is covered with tickets from shows we've gone to together. She covered it in glaze and lined the edges with foam.

And, there you have it. Guest crafter! One of many I assume if this crafting funk continues as it has been.

Rawr.

Sauteed Veggie Pita Pizza!

So I had decided I was gonna start putting my recipe book to use. After spending almost 2 hours at metrotown (NOT ideal) I picked up some stuff. I used pita bread (and it actually worked out pretty well) I couldn't find any whole pizza crusts (does it even exist?)

prepping . . .
I didn't think it would work cause it didn't require any sorta sauce but it all sorta mushed together. I didn't add red pepper cause I forgot to get it but I added spinach instead (not the same but still worked out)

The final product! I made two so i could take one for lunch tomorrow. I was quite pleased with the result.
Next time I need to add more of the ingredients I didn't follow instructions cause it was just me so I kinda guesstimated . . . but it was still quite good . . . mmmmmm.

I have more to post. not food related but I figured I give Julz a chance to post something next.
We decided we will have another SUCCESSFUL crafts day! SOON SOON SOON

Technical Tuesday

I think this is the fastest I've done back to back posts. hmmm. Well today was SUPPOSE to be crafts and movies for me and Julz. As I DID craft she . . . well did not (she's going to hurt me or tell me to shut up but it's not my fault)
anywho off topic i made THIS picture frame. well it was a plain wooden frame from ikea i got a while back and the rest is well the work of my magic hands . . . no not really just paper . . but still looks cool right?
This was what I tended to do. A receipt accordion file folder. a boat sailing into the (how did my friend Shannon put it) sunset of riches . . . ? i just wanted to keep my spending in order and keep my receipts on file so I thought HEY . . . another project!

the accordion part didn't come out AS planned but I'm still quite proud of it all

I spent 11.5 hours at Julz house and we both agree that's kinda disgusting (but still fun)
The day ended with us watching (and for the first time) Rocky Horror Picture Show . . . which I was expecting to not enjoy it wasn't half bad I just don't see why its sooo . . . famous isn't the right word but it's the only word that comes to mind right now

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! We are anticipating (eagerly) a fantastic and prosperous year!

Now, for my craft of the week.
With the hustle and bustle of Christmas now safely behind us, I am in a bit of a craft lull.I was so focussed on completing the gifts I was making that once I was done all I wanted to do was read for a bit. Which I did.

Side Note Book Recommendation: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows

I could post the gifts I made since my last post...

But that's just really more of the same stuff that I've already posted on here...

It's pretty and I'm proud of it, but it's kind of boring.

I think I'm going to post something a little different. Something I was making nonstop a couple of months ago but the production has since tapered off a little bit...

Yup. Felt hand sewn celebrity figures. These are my Harry Potter gang and The Beatles.
I'm not sure where I got the idea to make these figurines, but they're super easy to make. People always asked me where I got the pattern for the bodies and clothes. The only answer is a simple one: My head.

I think I might get back into the swing of making these. Who to make next? The Queen? Obama? Amy Winehouse? (the idea of making the Wino is as daunting as it is exciting--imagine stitching in all those tattoos! And that hair!)

Hopefully, there will be new crafts by new week,
Julz.
