Illness Inspired Creativity

So, I'm sick. Disgustingly sick and I haven't left my bed all day. This would've been day two of bedridden Julz, but yesterday I had to go to class to write a midterm. My prof took one look at me when I handed in my midterm and told me that she was going to lecture for a little bit after the test, but I looked so awful that she wouldn't be offended if I just went home and got some rest.

I did. All afternoon, all night and all of today I wrote my essay from bed and rested. However, it is now 7:30PM and I have been in bed all day, my essay is more than halfway to completion and I got a little stircrazy. Enter craft project.

I bought this dress on a recent trip to Value Village with some friends. I had a vision for this dress, they just didn't see it. Looking at this picture, their doubt was understandable.

I cut out the shoulder pads and some excess fabric. Did some sewing...
This is the only picture I have of the actual crafting process, unfortunately, I have only set of hands which makes taking pictures of sewing rather difficult. Just believe me, I cut and sewed stuff.
I also had a little difficulty posing for pictures today as in many of the shots the only visible part of my face was my bright red nose. Looking away really helped. This is the first run of the finished product, I was pleased, but thought I could do more....

The final final product. After the first try, I thought sewing in the seams for a slightly slightly more fitted top, as well as a lower neckline. I toyed with the idea of removing the sleeves, but honestly, my sewing skills just aren't up to snuff for that. Looking at these two pictures, the dress looks almost identical, but believe me, the last steps make a big improvement.

Anyway, hopefully I kick this soon. Tomorrow is What I Wore Wednesday and I am so glad that I've been taking pictures of myself whenever I wear a cute outfit lately--it makes for a good archive to cheat when I'm really wearing sweats!
Hope you all had a lovely Valentine's (since I didn't... illness and midterms don't exactly equal L-O-V-E) and an equally lovely February 15th (What? You DON'T celebrate the day all the chocolate goes on sale? Strange.)

Valentines Day Play-by-Play

It was a beautiful day in Vancouver but I spent it inside (I know I know) though you may not feel like I did much I felt pretty productive today. I woke up (fell outta bed dragged a comb across my head) put my clothes in the wash, made oatmeal for breaky (wasn't bad)
Listened to the Canucks game on team 1040 6-2 lost to Minnesota . . . what's going on guys anywho. I made 3 dresses today.

first (actually I made this one last) it's more of a recon it was a long dress, dropped waist I love the pattern but didn't see me wearing it the way it was - i always forget to take before pictures anywho now it's well shorter.

This was a huge mens button up the button are in the back it was intended to be a dress still could be with tights (yes Julz) cause it's rather short

I got this plaid long button up t-shirt dress at walmart a few years ago in Powell River and have NEVER worn it and changed it as well. There's a purple one still dunno what to do about that.

Now the yummy part of my day vegan brownies.
There was a halt in production when I opened the bag of carob powder and it went EVERYWHERE and I just couldn't continue with out cleaning it up (off my blender, kettle, cutlery, counters)
BEFORE they went in the oven.

After they came out of the oven. They're suppose to look gooey

Taste test. . . . mmmmm
So that's about it kids that was my day. I'm off to . . . actually I dunno what I'm gonna do now.
