I recently bought this top on an American Apparel Groupon I had.
I think it's absolutely lovely, but I can't figure out how to wear it.
The lace is too open to wear without a tank underneath
and a tank underneath looks really dumb.
It only looks good tucked in to high waisted skirt/pants
But I don't have any high waisted jeans.
Help!

What I Wore Wednesday: Adventure Boots
Hello, blogosphere!
Sorry today's post is a little on the late side, I'm finishing off my semester and it has been a pretty stressful, busy couple days.
So here it is folks, a little lackluster, but it is what it is.
As with many of my outfits, today's outfit is 100% entirely thrifted! Plus my new (to me) adventure boots that I got at Value Village a while ago.
Aren't they sweet? I pretty much love 'em.
Anyways, that's all for now.

Manic Monday
Bright pink loose tank top, high-waisted grey skirt with a red belt.
without the sweater . . . that is NOT a baby bump there, it kinda looks like it though doesn't it. . . to me it does.
with the sweater. (I had to wear a sweater at work)
I'm a girl of few words today. I usually am. Julz is the loquacious one.
Hmm some thoughts? I love that it's getting warmer out that I'm not freezing my butt off if I wear tights to work at 530am. I'm also loving that it doesn't get dark til later I can't wait for summer to come.
that is all. Goodbye

Mind Dump
Hey, just stopping by for a couple things:
1) My dinner from last night.... Caesar Salad with boiled eggs. Nom Nom. Pictures are kinda dark because I got home lateish, because I went to see DOGTOOTH.
Only two words can describe this movie: Fucked Up. But really enjoyable and raises issues with societal dynamics. I'd recommend it, but not for the faint of heart. Some scenes are shockingly graphic.
2) Doesn't this sound cool? And exactly my cup of tea? I'm so tempted, but I swore I wouldn't go shopping until April! Gah! Not faaaiir.
3)Dinner tonight was mac'n'cheese with pureed chickpeas. Here is the puree-ing process.
And the final product!
That's all, I'm going to go get some work done and treat the internet and all its endless possibilities like this:
LALALAALA I CANT HEEAAARRRR YOOOU.
Hopefully it will work.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
A friend of mine came up with a brilliant idea and challenge for himself that for 40 days he is to write 40 songs, a song a day, to help him improve as a songwriter. They may be good they may be bad and in the end he'll see where it takes him. Collaborations are allowed. I was so inspired that I decided to join him in this quest I'll help him out when needed and vice versa. As of April 2nd the challenge begins. I'm very excited. Also my sister will be in town and she can help me for a few days or so.
I think its an INSANE idea but I think we can pull it off. It will be a definite learning process hopefully something beautiful will come out of this. . .
I got my notebook all ready and I'm raring to go.

that is all.

What I Wore Wednesday
Heya,
Me again. At this rate, you're likely getting sick of me, right? Don't answer that.
Today's outfit is direct response to the gorgeous sun out there today. Absolutely beautiful! It's silly how much of a good mood the sun puts me in. Even though I am still writing papers, the sun shining through the window makes it all seem okay. What I'm wearing actually took more effort than usual, because while I really liked the basis of this outfit, I couldn't figure out what to put over the tank, because although it was warm out, it wasn't THAT warm. I went through almost all my cardigans and blazers but they all looked silly (all my plain cardigans are quite long and look dumb with the loose mens pant and a blazer makes me look like a little girl trying to dress up in a suit.) It was awful. I ended up wearing an open button down top over top, but didn't get a picture as it was time for school.
Horrifying Moment of the day:
I went to get air for my bike tires today from the gas station. It costs $0.50! Shocked, I took my business elsewhere, to the gas station across the street where to my horror, the PetroCan was charging $1. $1!!!! For air!!!!!!!!! Jesus, Louise.
Click it. That's what this picture reminds me of.

Making the Most Delicious Dinner Ever makes Proof Reading 88.5674% more Enjoyable this Tuesday Evening.
What does the combination of food create? (plus tofu, it somehow didn't make it out of the fridge for picture time...)
Um, delicious!
You impressed yet? Day three of posting my meals! Today, I made Noodle Salad in Peanut Sauce, which makes up for its rather dull name with MAYJAH FLAVA. Holy amazeballs, this was delicious. I can't even talk about how amazing this was on account of eating so much of it and now being uncomfortably full with my dinner. I've linked the recipe, because I pretty much followed it to a T.
Sogood.

Monday.
So, in a hilarious twist events, this is my dinner for tonight. Hilarious because yesterday's soup was supposed to last me a couple of days -- I really tried to follow through, but I could only choke down about half the bowl I scooped myself for lunch today. So, on to Wednesday's dinner. Which, from looking at these pictures looks not so yummy. But that's a lie. Pictures of food do not always accurately represent their taste. As proof of this fact, Exhibit A, pictures of yesterday's soup look delish-- so good in fact, i ALMOST want to give it another try. But I'm smarter than that. My own photography skills won't fool me! Anyway, the moral of this rambly story is: The soup looks good, but tasted gross and tonight's dinner looks gross but tasted great.
So, what IS Monday's dinner, you're pondering?
Build-A-Dinner:
Rye bread//can of tuna-1/2cup mayo-tablespoon dijon mustard-teaspoon balsamic vinegar-diced granny smith apples-sliced almonds-//grate cheese on top//broil for three minutes//nommmm. Makes six.

Last One I Swear.
Binge posting!
Okay, so i know that my last hinting comment about posting my meals for this week has just completely consumed your curiosity. I know, right? Ever since I mentioned it, two hours ago, you've just been tying yourself up in KNOTS wondering what I have up my sleeve...
Sooooo, here it is, folks!
Tonight, I made Lemon Infused Lentil Soup.
It was, unfortunately, gross.
I blame the fennel. I have actually made this soup before, sometime in September, when I didn't actually know what fennel was so I skipped it in the recipe. The only thing I remember about the experience was that I found it was too lemony. So this time, I decided to nix one of the two lemons and add the fennel. Biiiiig mistake.
Fennel is an awful thing to put into soup, especially when there isn't that second lemon to diffuse the gross.
Here is my stock pot. Look at how leafy and colourful it is! Looks promising....
Upon straining it, I realized just how gross it was. I frantically added a thousand other things, stock, bouillon, cilantro, oregeno.
It masked the bitter fennel taste ever so slightly, but I still had to choke this bowl of soup down. Now I have a huge stock pot of disgusting soup. Siiiigh. So is my life.

What will I make next!?!?!? Here is the pile of groceries I bought today, as a hint!
Eek, now I'm making promises for cooking posts. Whatever have I gotten myself into!?
Good night! (for real this time)

Sunday.
Ello ello.
Me again (!) I went for my grocery shop for the week, and am really excited about some of the stuff I have planned to eat this week, so there just might be an influx of food posts from me this week! Today I made some peanut butter-chocolate-oat bars made in the microwave!
Sounds weird, but they actually came out pretty nice, and give me just that bit of chocolate I need while sitting up all hours of the night writing papers!
Directions, in pictures...
Ingredients-pictured: 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, 1/2 cup of peanut butter and 1 cup of rolled oats plus some milk (I used rice milk, because that's what was on hand; 2 tablespoons) and one teaspoon vanilla extract.
If you're looking at this thinking, "That looks like more than 1/2 cup of chocolate chips", you'd be right. There is more than half a cup, I like to snack while I make stuff! That, and I get overzealous in the bulk section at the grocery store. Mainly that second one, actually.
Step One: Mix everything except the oats in a microwave-safe bowl.
Step Two: Put in the microwave for 30 second increments until melty and mixed.
Step Three: Add oats.
Step Four: Spread onto a pan. Refrigerate for 10-15 minutes. I left it in for 30 minutes because I forgot about it, but it was all good.
Step Five: Enjoy!

We Interupt This Saturday Night for a Moment of Adorableness.
Me again, just really quick.
I have recently discovered thisisnotporn.net and it has captured my heart. I love getting inside glimpses of actors' and musicians' lives. So goofy!
And h'omigawd, Princess Leia, girrrrl you got style!
...also reminding me of my childhood crush on Harrison Ford...
Contrary to as the post would have you believe, it's not all Star Wars related. There are tons of others too! Including ones with Audrey Hepburn and her deer, Pippin. Did YOU know Audrey Hepburn had a pet deer named Pippin? I did not.
Anyways. Thought I'd share. Happy Saturday.

Thrifty Treasures!
Here I am, emerging from my cocoon of work to share with y'all (I use Y'all as a loose term-I know there's only three people reading this, ha!) my most recent thrifting adventure finds! These are from a couple weeks ago and over a couple of trips. I've worn some of them in outfits already, and I'm sure they'll be making a bunch more appearances in What I Wore Wednesdays.
I got these shoes from Value Village-- I think they'll be just perfect for spring and summer with dresses!
This isn't my own picture, but I found one at Value Village! $2! I love FredFlare stuff so this was a major score!
This flowy polka dotted shirt was also a thrilling find. Please ignore the basketball hoop in the background, I recently rearranged my whole room and have lost my posing corner! Plus it was an obscenely nice day so I figured I should take some pictures outside. I will find a new location sooon.
... I had to move inside because just as I took that last picture, my roommate's huskey came barreling at me and got me all muddy :(
I found this yellow flowery top from a consignment store and think it'll look great with shorts this summer!
I found these glasses...
...I haven't worn them out in public yet, but I just thought they were tooo cute!
And finally, this lacy top from Value Village-
Whoa. That was an image heavy post. I really have a huge itch to go thrifting right now, but I have too much to do to justify going shopping again. I have a Value Village coupon for April, so I have promised myself to go again then.
Siiigggh.
I have a problem. A thrifting problem.
xx Julz.
